Airport lacking bathroom after security to get one

MUSKEGON, Mich. (AP) — Travelers at a regional airport in Michigan will be getting a convenience that should make trips a little better — a bathroom beyond the security checkpoint.

The Muskegon Chronicle reports ( ) officials approved an $80,000 grant contract for the Muskegon County Airport. The airport will match part of the funds, and $60,000 will go toward adding the bathroom.

Airport manager Marty Piette says there haven’t been complaints about the lack of lavatory facilities, but there were comments about it. Piette says it was an inconvenience, since travelers needed to be screened again by security if they left the secure area of the terminal.

A timeline for adding the bathroom hasn’t been set. Piette says the other $20,000 will be used to refurbish the West Michigan airport’s deicing truck.
