It was a lucky day for a golfer at the Mahoning Country Club on Sunday.

Richard Kilbert, 71, who also happens to be a former Warren fire captain, hit his first-ever hole-in-one.

He managed to hit the rare shot, even while still recovering from a hip replacement surgery from last winter. Kilbert plays golf every week with his son and two of his buddies and said he never thought he’d ever make a hole-in-one.

“One shot and lucked out and went in. Lucky shot, that’s all it is,” said Kilbert.

Kilbert purchased the golf club he used to hit the hole-in-one just the day before. It was only the second shot he had taken with the club.
