The Youngstown Fire Department battled a house fire on the city’s South Side.

Flames broke out just before 4 a.m. Tuesday at a two-story East Avondale Avenue home.

Firefighters said the blaze started in a car parked in the driveway, and then quickly spread to the side of the house.

The family that lived inside managed to exit the home safely. No one was hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
