Pa. group seeks artists to transform beer barrels

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — An arts group in eastern Pennsylvania is looking for artists who want to have a barrel of fun.

The (Easton) Express-Times says Bethlehem-based nonprofit ArtsQuest is seeking artists to transform beer kegs into works of art during the inaugural Oktoberfest Decorative Beer Barrel Competition.

It’s happening in October at SteelStacks in Bethlehem.

Twelve artists will be selected and will compete for cash prizes while applying their artistic skill to beer barrels. The competition’s theme is “German Heritage with a Pennsylvania Flair.”

Interested artists are asked to submit an application, sketch and short proposal by Sept. 6 to ArtsQuest.
