Tropical depression moving northwest in Pacific

MIAMI (AP) — A tropical depression is moving northwestward in the Pacific on a path that could take it near Mexico.

The depression’s maximum sustained winds early Friday are near 35 mph (55 kph) and the U.S. National Hurricane Center says it could strengthen to a tropical storm later in the day.

The depression is centered about 350 miles (560 kilometers) southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and is moving near 7 mph (11 kph).
