W. Pa. cement mixer firm cutting 10 to 15 jobs

INDIANA, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania that makes mobile concrete mixers and other equipment is moving its manufacturing operation to Iowa, resulting in the loss of 10 to 15 jobs.

Officials with Elkin Hi-Tech, of Indiana, Pa., tell the Indiana Gazette (http://bit.ly/12vsILm ) that the work is being moved to Indianola, Iowa, where the company’s parent, Multi-Tech Inc. is based.

The operation will be combined there with two affiliated companies, International Mobile Mixers and Cemen Tech.

Frank Holuta, Elkin’s senior vice president and general manager, says the company is making the move because the Iowa facility is larger and more modern, and has overhead cranes and other specialized equipment.

The plant in Indiana will be sold, but the company plans to maintain and expand its customer support center there. Both are located about 45 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
