Walmart guard shot, robbed of vehicle in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Police have arrested a man accused of shooting a security guard at a Walmart store and robbing him of his work vehicle in the store’s parking lot in central Ohio.

Columbus police say guard Gerald Wheeler of Securitas Security Services USA was working when he was approached by the suspect about 1:30 a.m. Friday. Police say the suspect shot Wheeler with a .25 caliber pistol and then stole the guard’s marked 2011 Ford Ranger.

Wheeler was transported to a hospital. He was in serious condition Friday.

Police say they found 29-year-old Terrence Blake with a gun and the stolen vehicle a short time later. Police say they arrested Blake on a charge of aggravated robbery.

Court records do not show an attorney for Blake.
