ERIE, Pa. (AP) — The longtime warden of the Erie County Prison plans to retire in September.
The Erie Times-News (http://bit.ly/15kwyYN ) reports Saturday that 61-year-old Jim Veshecco, the warden since 2004, will be replaced by Deputy Warden Kevin Sutter.
Veshecco, who’s been a county employee since 1976, says he’s had a great career and wonderful experiences.
Sutter was hired in the wake of a review of prison operations done for the National Institute of Corrections, an agency of the U.S. Department of Justice.
Veshecco was criticized in the NIC’s review for not being visible and proactive enough, but he was not disciplined.
