Campbell’s Carson sets state mark

Campbell native Chris Carson set an Ohio state record by lifting a raw weight total of 1,715 pounds between the squat, bench press, and dead lift at a competition in Columbus on Saturday.

Carson, competing in the 242 pound weight class, lifted 540 lbs. on the squat, 520 lbs. on the bench press, and 655 lbs. on the dead lift. The previous record was 1,675 pounds total, set in June of this year.

It was the first full power competition where Carson has performed the squat, bench press, and dead lift all together.

Carson’s now qualified to compete at the Schwarzenneger Classic in Columbus at the end of February 2014.
