Aug. 31, 2012 – Hickory, 44-22

-Hickory doubled up Strong Vincent in last year’s opener, 44-22. The Hornets’ defense forced four turnovers (1 interception/3 fumbles) and sacked their quarterback three times. DeShawn Coleman ran for 166 yards on 20 carries (8.3 average) to lead a Hornet rushing attack which gained 291 stripes in the contest.

-The Colonels quarterback Chris Starocci completed 12 of 15 against Hickory for 167 yards. Strong Vincent rushed for 108 yards as a team but the four turnovers proved to be too much to overcome.

-Hickory has achieved the school’s best three-year run (31-7) since 1946-48 (23-2-1).

-The Hornets are the defending two-time District 10 Class AA Champions.

-Strong Vincent lost their last four contests during the 2012 season while Hickory was victorious in each of their final six regular season match ups.

POINTS SCORED: Hickory, 4th in Area (38.2); Strong Vincent, equivalent to 53rd in Area (17.1)

POINTS ALLOWED: Hickory, 3rd in Area (13.3); Strong Vincent, equivalent to 45th in Area (29.4)

PASSING YARDS: Strong Vincent, 88.8; Hickory, 82.9

RUSHING YARDS: Hickory, 233.5; Strong Vincent, 155.1

Hickory: Bill Brest, 4th Season (31-7)

Strong Vincent: Scott White, 4th Season (15-16)

-12-2, Hickory’s road record over the last fourteen outings
