VERMILION, Ohio (AP) — The parents and grandmother of a malnourished 18-month-old Ohio boy who died have pleaded guilty to child endangerment.
An Erie County court says involuntary manslaughter and other charges were dropped for 35-year-old Adrienne Bartholomew and 33-year-old James Brothers.
The boy’s grandmother, Debra Nelson, pleaded guilty to child endangering and failing to provide for a functionally impaired person.
They’ll be sentenced in November.
Isaac Brothers-Bartholomew died of malnutrition last November at home near Vermilion. His mother told authorities he had gastrointestinal problems and other medical concerns. Investigators said he hadn’t seen a doctor in months.
The couple’s other children were removed, and four were treated for malnutrition.
Nelson’s attorney says some of the children had physical disabilities that overwhelmed the family.
A message was left for the parents’ attorney.
