A Youngstown sex offender is facing new charges that allege he climbed through a woman’s window early Tuesday and raped her.

Matthew Dubose, 24, was arrested by Youngstown police on suspicion of rape, aggravated burglary, unlawful restraint, resisting arrest and possessing marijuana and narcotic prescription painkillers.

Formal charges had not been filed as of noon Tuesday.

Reports say at about 4 a.m. Dubose climbed through a window to a St. Louis Avenue home into a woman’s room that he knew.

Reports say the woman told police “with a look of fear on her face” that she fell asleep at about 11 p.m. and awoke to sounds of someone in her room. She told police Dubose said he climbed through the window and refused to leave despite her telling him to do so.

The woman said she never asked Dubose to the home. She said she tried to leave the room several times but he pushed her away from the door and forced her to have sex with him.

The woman told police she begged him to stop and told him she did not want to have sex with him. The man replied that he loved her, reports say.

The woman’s mother called police, who found Dubose naked under the woman’s bed covers with five prescription painkillers in a baggie next to him.

When police tried to handcuff him, he clenched his fists. Deputies eventually wrestled him to the ground and used a stun gun to subdue him, reports say.

During the struggle, reports say, he dropped a pill bottle with marijuana inside.

The woman refused medical attention because “she feared for her life and also for her children,” reports say. She told police Dubose “is crazy” and believed if she did anything “something would happen to her,” according to the report.

Dubose, according to court records, was convicted in 2007 of having unlawful sexual contact with a minor and was sentenced to 10 months in prison. He was classified as a sex offender and has to register his residence with the county sheriff’s office once a year for 10 years.

Court records say he engaged in sexual conduct between Feb. 1 and Feb. 22, 2007 with a 14-year-old girl he knew for more than one year.

Dubose was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison in 2005 for receiving stolen property and failing to comply with police. He was convicted in 2010 of burglary and 2011 of attempted burglary. He was sentenced to two years on probation and six months in jail, respectively.
