A Liberty graduate that made it big on the rock scene was in town Wednesday for a dedication ceremony.
Jerry DePizzo of O.A.R. was back at his alma mater as they dedicated the band’s practice room in the name of the DePizzo’s band. The members of O.A.R. performed a benefit concert at The Ohio State University last year with the proceeds going to the Liberty music program.
After dedicating the room, the band played one of O.A.R.’s hits “Love and Memories” for DePizzo.
“This is the wildest dream in the sense that all I really wanted to do is be a musician. To be able to go out and play my craft for a living, I have realized my dream partly because of my education here at Liberty,” said DePizzo. “Education and music education are two big passions of mine, and I believe wholeheartedly that our community is only as good as your school system.”
DePizzo said the donation would not have been possible without the other members of the band supporting the effort.
