The wait is finally over. The college football season kicks off Thursday night as the YSU Penguins take the field against the Dayton Flyers.

It is the first meeting between the Flyers and Penguins since 1977. Dayton has had the upper hand in the series winning all nine previous games, including a 27-23 win on Oct. 22, 1977, the most recent meeting between the schools.

“They’re gonna come in here ripping and roaring and ready to play. Stambaugh Stadium is an exciting place to play. We have good crowds here. We have a good atmosphere,” said Wolford. “It’s pretty hard not to get excited to play at Youngstown State on a Thursday night.”

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Stambaugh Stadium. You can watch the game live on MyYTV with a pre-game show beginning at 7 p.m.

Chad Krispinsky and Dave Sess will call the game.
