A crane struck a bridge in Niles on Friday causing damage.

The crane hit the railroad bridge at state North Main Street near Federal Street about noon. Officials said the hydraulic lift was activated, causing the crane to strike the bridge.

Minor damage was caused. Trumbull County engineers are inspecting the bridge.

Traffic was backed up for about an hour, but the road has since been reopened.
