Tionte David returned a 40-yard interception for the game’s first score, 6-0, with a little under six minutes left in the first half. In the next frame, Austin Pickens went 60 yards to lengthen their lead to 12-0 with 6:43 remaining in the third.

Coach Jarrett Samuels improved to 4-2 against Sharon in his coaching career. Farrell’s defense finished with unofficially eight sacks. Dewayne Burns finished with 142 yards on 27 carries.

Since Sharon won the 2010 District 10 Class AA Championship, they’ve dropped three of their last 22.

The Steelers (1-0) will play at Kennedy Catholic next Saturday before returning home for their opener against West Middlesex in week three. Sharon (0-1) welcomes Saegertown next Friday.
