L.J. Scott, Hubbard rolls

Hubbard’s high-powered offense traveled to Lakeview to open the season and they had it going early with a 7-0 lead in the first minute of the game.

Hubbard’s L.J. Scott scampered into the end zone from two yards out to give the Eagles the lead in the first sixty seconds. Lakeview got on the board late in the first quarter with a 24-yard field goal from Jake Pishotti.

Hubbard then began to turn up the fire power. Scott scored from five yards out to give the Eagles a 14-3 lead. Then, QB Brennan Wassil ran 43 yards for a score followed by another Scott touchdown, this time 85 yards. George Hill closed out the scoring in the first half with a touchdown of his own for the Eagles. A late Lakeview drive at the end of the half was halted when Scott intercepted an errant Bulldog pass. Scott, a pre-season favorite to make the Big 22, finished the first half with over 200 yards rushing, with three touchdowns and an interception on defense.

Hubbard lead 35-3 at the half.

Lakeview inched closer in the second half, scoring a safety in the third quarter to make it 35-5. Then, Angelo Marino connected with Jake Pishotti for a six-yard touchdown pass with 10:57 left in the fourth quarter to make it 42-12, Hubbard. Wassil then scored his second rushing touchdown of the game with 8:12 left in the game to stretch the lead back to 49-12, which was the final.

Scott finished the night with 330 yards on 24 carries and four touchdowns plus the interception on defense.
