Ohio doctor charged with sex assault of patients

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio pain clinic doctor accused of sexually assaulting some of his female patients has been indicted on 23 counts.

The Summit County prosecutor alleges 59-year-old James Bressi of Hudson assaulted multiple people, sometimes forcefully, and took advantage of patients impaired by illness or age. The indictment charges a single count of rape, 11 felony counts of gross sexual imposition and 11 misdemeanor counts of sexual imposition.

Bressi left the pain clinic in Stow in March. His medical license has been suspended.

The Akron Beacon Journal (http://bit.ly/15lHGY8 ) reports eight former patients have sued him.

The newspaper said records from the lawsuit and the state medical board show Bressi has denied any wrongdoing. A message was left Friday for Bressi’s attorney.

Bressi’s arraignment date hasn’t been set.
