NOTEWORTHY
-Brookfield came back by posting 24 points in the fourth quarter against Springfield to edge the Tigers, 30-27. With only two seconds remaining in the contest, sophomore Kasey Tingler booted through the up rights a 36-yarder to clinch the victory. Springfield held a 20-0 lead at one point in the game.

-The Tigers opened the new campaign with a resounding 55-7 win over Rootstown on Thursday. Newton Falls led at the half, 35-0. A trio of Tiger runners (Larry Zarlengo, Derek Backherms, Brandon Fuller) gained 75 yards or more led by Zarlengo’s 116 yard performance. Prior to their week one victory, Newton Falls had lost their previous six games.

-Brookfield has taken seven of the last eight meetings with Newton Falls. The Warriors have outscored the Tigers during that stretch, 233-107.

-Coach Randy Clark’s group turned the ball over 5 times in last year’s home contest against Newton Falls. However, Ryan Mosora ran for 142 yards (2 TDs) and caught 2 passes (TD) as the Warriors defeated their Trumbull County rivals, 59-12.
