-The Cardinals were defeated by a high-powered offensive attack in Philadelphia’s Imhotep Charter, 49-21. The Panthers’ Nasir Bonner (offered by Wisconsin and West Virginia) and Deandre Scott (offered by Nebraska, Miami, Texas, etc) scored on runs of 80 and 99 yards, respectively. Mooney allowed 472 yards of total offense. The Cardinals’ Anthony Dermotta and C.J. Amill both had short touchdown runs while Mark Handel returned a third quarter interception for a score (39 yards).

-Boardman fell behind 31-0 in their week one match up with last year’s #1 seed in Region 3, Hilliard Darby. The Panthers won 31-7 behind two touchdowns runs by Jacob Stacy and Nate Green. Darius Sanders ran for over 130 yards and threw for another 172.

-Cardinal Mooney shut out Boardman 37-0 on August 31, 2012 to take their fifth straight win against the Spartans. Cardinal running back Justus Ellis-Moore ran for 187 yards on 10 carries (2 TDs), As a team, Mooney gained 278 yards on the ground.

-Four of the last six meetings between the Spartans and the Cardinals have been decided by 7 points or less.
