-Springfield led 20-0 in the first half over the home standing Brookfield Warriors. The Tigers’ starting quarterback Hunter Snyder scored 3 total touchdowns (2 passing, 1 rushing) and gained over 220 yards of total offense in the first half. However, he did not return for the final 24-minutes due to heat exhaustion. Springfield lost, 30-27. The Tigers will try and avoid their first back-to-back 0-2 starts since 2001-2002.

-Lowellville jumped out to a 21-0 advantage over Youngstown Christian in week one. A 19-point rally came up short as the Eagles fell, 21-19.

-The Eagles’ Ryan Grier ran for 160 yards and scored 3 times as Youngstown Christian took care of Springfield, 40-3, in week two of the 2012 season. YCS’s quarterback Emmett Underwood connected 2 touchdowns while passing for 116 yards. Last year, the Eagles outscored their first five opponents by a combined score of 198-22.

-Despite dropping their contest last season, the Tigers lead the all-time series – 4-1.

-Almost a year prior, Springfield defeated the Eagles 31-21 behind the play of quarterback Nick Russell. Number 12 completed 70.6% of his passes (12-17) for 181 yards and scored twice, once through the air and once via the ground game. Jeremy Weingart caught 5 of his tosses for 116 stripes. The defense was impressive as they forced 4 turnovers (3 interceptions, 1 fumble).
