Northeast Ohio police arrest Missouri jail escapee

WESTLAKE, Ohio (AP) — A rape suspect who escaped from a Missouri jail last month has been caught inside a nursing home in northeast Ohio.

Westlake police say 23-year-old Brian Adkison, of Columbia, Mo., was arrested Wednesday in the Cleveland suburb after a brief struggle with police.

WKYC reports authorities say they set up a perimeter Wednesday afternoon to try to locate Adkison after a citizen reported having observed the man bicycling.

Akison managed to elude authorities Tuesday morning when he led police on a chase after an officer tried to question him while he slept in a pickup truck. Officers disabled the truck, but he ran off and remained at large following an extensive search.

Adkison is wanted in several Missouri counties on charges including rape and kidnap of a former girlfriend.
