A former Youngstown State University football player is dead after a shooting in Akron.

Our print partner The Tribune Chronicle reported Paris Wicks, 23, was fatally shot last week behind an Akron convenience store.

Wicks was a high school football standout at Akron Ellet High School and later played running back for YSU in 2008.

Wicks’ father, Paris, is a YSU Hall of Fame player.

Reports Thursday indicate police may have two suspects in custody.
