A carousel that once meant a lot to Youngstown and now operates in New York has won an award.
The merry-go-round that used to turn in Idora Park has won a Red Tricycle 2013 Totally Awesome Award in New York.
It’s one of 10 finalists in the parks and playgrounds category.
The carousel built in 1922 was auctioned off and purchased by a New York woman in 1984.
She restored the ride and had it installed along the East River in Brooklyn Bridge Park in September, 2011.
The public voted in the contest.
