Mooney rallies in 5 games

Cardinal Mooney rallied in the final two games to defeat Boardman 3-2 in high school volleyball Monday night.

The match went back and forth, with the Spartans winning the first game 25-18.  The Cardinals came back to take the second game 28-26.  The third game was extended as well, with Boardman winning 26-24.  Mooney came back to win the fourth game 25-19 and then the fifth 15-7.

Leading the way for the Cardinals was Maddie Abrigg and Jaclyn Yankle with 15 kills each.  Gina Patella had 32 assists while Lauren Laottier had 28 digs.

For Boardman, Megan Volosin had 28 kills and 16 digs.  Faith Saunders had 54 assists.  Amanda Lipke added 18 service points, 10 kills, and 4 blocks.

Mooney improves to 5-2 on the season, while Boardman drops to 5-5.
