Suspect dead after Pa. bank robbery pursuit

NEWVILLE, Pa. (AP) — State police say a bank robbery suspect who led authorities on a multi-hour chase through central Pennsylvania is dead.

A state police spokesman says multiple troopers suffered non-life threatening injuries during a chase that spanned two counties Monday.

Investigators did not release the name of the man they say robbed a bank in Chambersburg around 5 p.m. and fled in a black minivan. One trooper was injured during the initial pursuit and lost contact with the suspect’s vehicle.

Aviation units assisted in a second pursuit that ended when the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a tree near Newville, Cumberland County.

Police did not release the suspect’s name or specify how the troopers were injured.
