Youngstown State senior center and preseason All-American Chris Elkins has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference’s Offensive Lineman of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

He earned an 88 percent grade from the coaching staff and was named the team’s Offensive Lineman of the Game. He had a 97 percent assignment grade and posted a team-best six knock-down blocks.

It was his second career start at center for the Penguins who lead the FCS in rushing and have had three different 100-yard rushers in the first two weeks of the season. He played every snap in the win vs. Dayton to start the year.

The Penguins (2-0) return to action on Saturday when they visit Michigan State. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
