Global youth orchestra playing NYC peace concert

NEW YORK (AP) — More than 130 young people from 50 countries are using the universal language of music in a performance for peace in New York City.

The World Peace Orchestra is holding its annual Play for Peace concert at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall Tuesday night.

It consists of 134 singers and instrumentalists, ages 15 to 22, playing classical and ethnic instruments.

Members of the orchestra are selected by training and rehearsing at a New York summer camp.

Oscar-winner actor Kevin Spacey is scheduled to introduce the orchestra.
