Yellow Brick Place, a cancer wellness center serving the tri-county area, will hold a fashion show fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Antone’s Banquet Centre in Boardman.

The center as a concept has been in existence for three years, but it does not yet have a facility. Co-founders Anna Aey and Donna Detwiler are hoping to use funds raised at the event to help build a facility. They would like a building to be ready for opening next fall.

Yellow Brick Place bills itself as the “missing link” between cancer treatment and recovery. All services will be provided free and will be non-medical.

According to a pamphlet, the organization’s mission statement is “Yellow Brick Place supports and educates cancer patients and those closest to them by providing individual and group services in the tri-county area of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana. Our purpose is to nourish and comfort the mind, body and spirit during the fight against cancer along with providing a hopeful environment for cancer patients, families and their caregivers.”

The center, in collaboration with Christina’s Garden, will offer healing arts therapy, a resource library, consultation with professional counselors, support and education, special programs, gentle exercise and yoga, and “Look Good, Feel Better” programs.
