Ohio chain crash started by truck kills 1, hurts 2

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (AP) — A sheriff’s office says a tractor-trailer caused several stopped vehicles to collide in a crash that killed one woman and injured two more people in central Ohio.

The crash happened around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday along U.S. Route 23 near Circleville, about 30 miles south of Columbus.

The Pickaway County sheriff says the tractor-trailer hit a car, pushing it into the car in front of it. The second car was pushed into a sport utility vehicle stopped at an intersection.

The driver of the first car, 42-year-old Amy Schneider of South Bloomfield, died at the scene.

A 59-year-old woman from the second car and the driver of the SUV were taken to hospitals.

The crash is under investigation. There was no immediate word on any charges.
