Mahoning County prosecutors said they intend to have the teenager arrested Tuesday in a series of armed robberies tried as an adult.

Youngstown police arrested the teen Tuesday at his home on the city’s North Side. He was formally charged Wednesday with aggravated robbery and a weapons charge.

In recent weeks, police have investigated several armed robberies on the North Side, near the Youngstown State University campus.

Youngstown Police Chief Rod Foley said information gained following the most recent robbery on Monday enabled police to obtain the search warrant for the Norwood Avenue house, where the 17-year-old suspect was found. He was taken to the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center.

The suspect is due back in court later this month.
