Hickory dominates Wilmington


HERMITAGE – Hickory avenged last week’s loss to Greenville (22-21) by upending Wilmington, 42-6. The Hornets improve their record to 2-1 while the Greyhounds drop to the same mark.

Andrew Pryts returned the opening kickoff of the second half 75-yards to set the tone for the final 24-minutes (21-0).

Hickory’s leading rusher Lou Derloni extended the Hornets lead to 35-0 on a touchdown run.

In their last two meetings, Hickory has outscored Wilmington 85-13.

The 36-point disadvantage was the Greyhounds’ worst loss since September 6, 2002 (Ursuline, 45-0).

Next week, Hickory will play at Grove City as Wilmington will welcome Titusville.
