The mayor of Allentown, Pa. announced Friday he is running for governor.

Ed Pawlowski, a democrat, formally announced his candidacy at Donna’s Diner in Sharon.

He talked about issues relating to the economy and creating good-paying jobs. He’ll be visiting Erie later on Friday.

“I want to provide the leadership, I want to break the gridlock, I want to make sure we have good economic development and family-sustaining jobs,” Pawlowski said. “I want to make sure our schools are properly funded so that our kids have a future. I want to make sure we have accountability back in government so that we break this gridlock and actually find solutions to problems affecting all of us as Pennsylvanians.”
