Western Pa. girl, 5, killed in car over cliff

WEST FINLEY, Pa. (AP) — A 5-year-old girl has been killed after her mother’s car crashed over a wooded cliff in southwestern Pennsylvania after dropping the girl’s father at work.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco says the dead girl is Taylor Ann Louise Stout. Her family had been living at the Four Seasons Camping Resort in West Finley Township while her father worked in the natural gas drilling industry.

West Finley Fire Chief Stephen Emery says the girl was thrown from the car then pinned beneath it. Rescue crews had to rappel down the hillside to reach the vehicle.

Authorities did not immediately release the name of the girl’s mother who Emery says was “shaken up pretty bad” but not injured.

State police were investigating the mother’s claim that she was run off the road just before 7 a.m.
