The steaks were sizzling at the Byzantine Center on Shady Run Road Saturday for the third annual Steak Fry to help the Saint Vincent de Paul Society in Youngstown.

St. Vincent de Paul runs primarily on private donations.

A team of volunteers helped cook the steaks for the crowd of more than 400 people, but feeding people is nothing new for these folks.

“Our soup kitchen last year served 105,000 meals. Our food pantry served 3,200 food boxes, which served another 13,000 people,” said Brian Antal, President, St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Antal said they expect the need to grow at the soup kitchen and food pantry when many Ohioans see a reduction in their food stamps starting in November.
