Jazz musician cuts first CD

Mark Buccilli

A life-long Youngstown resident is starting to crack into the international music business.

With his eclectic jazz-fusion project Bambo Kino, Mark Buccilli, who retired in 2010 after 21 years with the Mahoning County Engineer’s office, is pursuing his passion.

Buccilli has played bass guitar for 43 years. He collaborated with some of the best jazz musicians from the Youngstown and Pittsburgh area to record his first CD “American Deluxe.”

Buccilli was featured in the September issue of Bass Player magazine and has an endorsement from his friend, TV star and Youngstown native Ed O’Neill.

His songs will soon be featured on the Pandora internet radio website. Bambo Kino builds songs around Buccilli’s bassline as a melody.

His music currently plays on WYSU 88.5 FM and the songs should be playing on Pandora around Thanksgiving. The band is also working on a new CD to be released before Christmas.

“I Heart Radio and Panora are two of the biggest internet services in the country, as far as I know,” Muccilli said. “There are 11 to 12 million listeners on Pandora.”
