Man arrested on roof

A Niles man accused of threatening to kill his girlfriend and her 2-year-old son over $20 was arrested by police Sunday after he was found hiding on the woman’s roof.

Eric N. Taylor, 25, of Ward Street, was arrested on suspicion of assault, aggravated menacing, criminal damaging and criminal mischief.

Reports say at about 6 p.m. Sunday Taylor went to his girlfriend’s home in the 300 block of Logan Avenue S.E. and ransacked her home.

The woman told police he then broke the windshield on her van in two places.

She told police Taylor threatened to kill her and her 2 year old if she refused to give him $20, reports say.

Officers, who initially spoke with the woman away from her home, returned to the Logan Avenue home and found Taylor hiding on the roof.
