A Valley firefighter will be inducted Wednesday into the Ohio Fire Service Hall of Fame.
Capt. Charles Joseph is with the Champion Fire Department and Chief John Hickey nominated him for the Ohio Fire Officer of the Year Award for 2013. Joseph found out a couple of weeks ago that he had been selected.
He’ll travel to the Ohio Fire Academy in Reynoldsburg where the State Fire Marshal will present him with the award.
“This is the first time I’ve ever received anything like that. We’ve all been pretty happy here at the fire house. We’re kind of low-key, we’re happy with a job well done, but it feels good because I”m winding down towards the end of my career and it feels good to go out that way,” Joseph said.
Joseph became a firefighter in 1982 in Braceville Township, where he was also the chief for four years.
