ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Nearly 10 years after the death of an Allentown infant, his mother is arrested in Alabama and facing charges in his death.
Lehigh County District Attorney James Martin announced on Tuesday that 30-year-old Wendi Leanne Stanford is charged with homicide and child endangerment.
Stanford was arrested Monday in Florence, Ala.
Two-month-old Christopher Harbin died in Nov. 2003, two days after Stanford called 911 to report he was unresponsive. An autopsy determined that the baby died from a skull fracture.
Prosecutors said there was never evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that would allow for charges. That changed when the case was recently re-examined and investigators conducted a new round of interviews.
Stanford and the boy’s father have since divorced. It’s unclear when she will return to Lehigh County to face charges.
