Biden visits patients wounded in Navy Yard rampage

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House says Vice President Joe Biden is visiting patients injured Monday in a mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard.

Biden arrived Wednesday evening at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center. That’s where a police officer who was shot in the leg and a woman shot in the shoulder are being treated. The hospital says both are improving and are now in good condition. A third patient at the hospital whose skull was grazed by a bullet was released Tuesday.

Twelve people died in the shooting, plus the shooter, Aaron Alexis. Eight people were injured, and all were expected to survive.

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama plan to attend a memorial for the victims on Sunday.
