The Mahoning County coroner identified the woman found dead in an East Side ditch.

Investigators identified the woman as Shaina D. Criss, 21, of Clarksburg, W. Va. Criss was found at about noon Tuesday in a ditch on Keogh Avenue.

The woman’s purse was lying in the roadway. Coroner’s investigators said a cell phone found in the purse led investigators to find her family, who they said live locally.

An autopsy did not find a cause of death. The coroner’s office said they are continuing to investigate.

The autopsy did reveal no evidence of inflicted lethal trauma. Dr. Joseph Orr, who performed the autopsy, reported only a few scrapes and bruises were found on Criss’ body.

He also reported there was no evidence of sexual assault or pregnancy.
