Unions endorse McNally

Local labor leaders are throwing their support behind the Democratic candidate for Youngstown mayor.

Members of the United Steel Workers, the IUE CWA, Western Reserve Building Trades, UFCW Local 880, and the UAW have endorsed John McNally.

The group on Thursday said they are endorsing McNally because of his reputation with local unions while serving as the city’s law director and Mahoning County commissioner.

“John has a lot of expertise and experience when it comes to doing labor contracts,” said Gary Steinbeck with the United Steel Workers. “He’s probably done most, if not all, of the contracts in the city of Youngstown. He’s certainly well versed to know what it means to sit down with labor.”

McNally faces five other candidates on Election Day.
