BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — Two women were arrested earlier this week for prostitution at a Boardman motel.
Police arrested Shanika Simmons, 29, of Youngstown, and Samantha McCourt, 19, of Canfield, on prostitution and drug charges.
During an ongoing prostitution investigation, Boardman police entered a room Simmons had rented at the Boardman Inn, 7109 Market St., on Tuesday around 11 p.m. and found the two women inside. Police searched that room and another room rented by McCourt. Detectives found a crack pipe, condoms, a hypodermic needle and other drug paraphernalia.
Simmons also was charged with promoting prostitution since the room where the crime was taking place was registered under her name. Drug charges against McCourt were elevated to a first-degree misdemeanor because of her past drug-related criminal history.
