WARREN – In a battle of Trumbull County programs it was Lakeview that flexed its muscles early on, defeating Champion 36-28.

The Flashes jumped out to an early lead behind Mike Cyrus’ touchdown run and the ensuing two point conversion that game them an 8-0 lead.

But, the Bulldogs would answer.

Angelo Marino connected with Jake Pishotti for a 37 yard touchdown pass. A successful two point conversion would tie it up.

Later in the quarter, Marino and Pishotti would connect again, this time from 31 yards out to give the Bulldogs a 15-8 lead.

In the second quarter, Pishotti broke free and scored from 23 yards out to put the Bulldogs up 22-8.

The Golden Flashes would continue to fight, but fall short.

Lakeview will host Girard next week.

Champion will look to bounce back next week when they travel to Newton Falls.
