The nation’s weather

Weather Underground Forecast for Monday, September 23, 2013.

The West Coast will continue to experience active weather on Monday, and a lingering cold front will bring stormy weather to Florida and parts of the Gulf Coast.

A low pressure system will bring more wet weather to the Pacific Northwest on Monday as it sits along the northern California and Oregon coasts. Showers and a chance of thunderstorms will be possible in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and the northern tip of California throughout the day. The eastern Great Basin and Southwest can expect warm, dry conditions as a high pressure system sitting over Nevada will dominate the region.

A cold front stretching from New Mexico to the the Dakotas will bring rain to the central and northern Rockies, as well as thunderstorms to the upper Midwest. The central Rockies will be quite vulnerable to flooding on Monday as recent flood zones remain saturated.

Texas will likely avoid wet weather on Monday, but parts of the Gulf Coast states can expect showers and thunderstorms as a low pressure system slowly treks eastward over the region. From Louisiana to Florida, thunderstorms may linger through the evening hours before the front makes its way further East. The majority of the Eastern Seaboard will experience dry conditions as a result of a high pressure system over the Great Lakes, but light rain may dampen northern New England during the early morning hours on Monday.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday have ranged from a morning low of 26 degrees at Crane Lake, Minn. to a high of 91 degrees at Pine Ridge, S.D.
