MERCER COUNTY, Pa. — A Farrell man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the murder of a popular bar owner.

Joshua Stewart, 20, was sentenced Thursday afternoon in Mercer County Court.  Stewart was convicted of gunning down William Basilone Jr., 58, on Dec. 30, 2011.

Basilone owned a bar in Farrell and was shot several times  in the bar’s parking lot. DeVine Campbell, 18, another suspect in the murder, goes on trial next for his part in the crime.

The pair’s arrest ended a months long crime spree that included nine other armed robberies between September of 2011 and the time of Basilone’s murder.
