Greenville powers past Grove City

Greenville Trojans (Greenville, PA) high school football

Some skeptics were questioning how good Greenville really was. Sure, they beat Hickory in week two by a point (22-21) but tonight’s contest at Grove City would determine if that was a fluke or not.

After their game against the Eagles, many of those same disbelievers were put on notice as the Trojans notched a 34-13 road victory to begin the season 5-0, their first such start since 2004.

Tyler Fattman opened the contest with a 92 yard kickoff return to give Greenville an early 7-0 advantage. The Trojans added a Nick Black 21 yard touchdown run, another Fattman 43 yard run on a fake punt and Trey VanAken’s 58 yard scamper to give Greenville a 27-6 lead in the fourth quarter.

Grove City received a late touchdown from Foster Reznor from a yard away (27-13). The Eagles had won their previous three meetings with the Trojans.

Greenville’s Nick Black scored for the second time of the night under a minute left to play to finish the scoring at 34-13.

The Trojans will play host to Titusville next Friday. Grove City (3-2) will take on Saegertown.
