Lakeview tops Girard

CORTLAND – In what became a back and forth battle, Lakeview survived Girard, beating the Indians 42-35.

In the first quarter, Junior Michael Mannella scored from five yards out to put Lakeview up.

But, the Indians would answer right back on a James Cupan touchdown to tie things up.

Later in the half, it was Mannella again, breaking a big run and scoring from 70 yards out to put the Bulldogs back on top, 14-7.

Mannella finished the game with 135 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

Nick Cardiero led the Indians going 28 for 45 on passing attempts for 341  yards and three touchdowns in the losing effort.

Lakeview will host LaBrae next week.

Girard will look to rebound next week when they travel to Champion.
