YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Another piece of Youngstown’s history is now coming down.
The old grandstand at South High Stadium is being demolished. Built in 1915, the old stadium was the first venue between Cleveland and Pittsburgh built solely for high school football.
The last varsity game was played there in 1992. It was then used for pee wee football, but was abandoned after a fatal shooting during a game in 2006.
The demolition should be completed sometime in December.
