VIENNA, Ohio — Kids were out learning the ins and outs of shooting guns and bows Saturday in Trumbull County. It was the annual NRA Youth Sportsfest at the Fish and Game Club of Vienna.

Over 100 kids participated shooting rifles, shotguns, handguns, and bows.

Organizers said that it was a great chance for area kids to learn about important safety tips, as well as get hands-on experience with guns and bows.

“We see all sorts of accidents from kids that do not know anything about guns,” said Larry Beardsley, a 4-H advisor.

“Hopefully this will at least give them the knowledge, hopefully they build the attitudes and use the knowledge to be safe.”

Beardsley added that when coming to events like this to learn about guns, they are less likely to search for a weapon that may be stored inside your house.

In addition to the shooting and safety activities, breakfast and lunch was provided for families in attendance.
